By Kristina Leung, Chantel Watkins, and Cypress Weston, Mediacorp Canada Inc. staff editors (Feb 24, 2025)
Here are some of the reasons why Women's College Hospital was selected as one of Canada's Best Diversity Employers (2025):
- Women's College Hospital opened the Centre for WISE Practices in Indigenous Health's "Gathering Place" in collaboration with the Temerty Faculty of Medicine at the University of Toronto -- The Gathering Place provides a dedicated area for Indigenous learners, staff, faculty, community members and partners to safely access traditional medicines, exercise Indigenous ceremonial practice rights and to engage with Elders, Knowledge Keepers, Traditional Practitioners and Educators
- Women's College Hospital created an Anti-Black Racism (ABR) Taskforce to serve as an oversight and advisory board to support the advancement of the hospital's anti-Black racism priorities -- the organization also established a Corporate Equity Committee in 2021 to support its work on advancing equity and dismantling anti-black racism
- Women's College Hospital recently released an equity roadmap to guide their work on equity, inclusion, diversity, accessibility, anti-racism and anti-oppression and contribute to better outcomes for patients, families and health system providers

At Women’s College Hospital, diversity and inclusion are highly valued and there is representation from a wide range of individuals. I feel more relaxed working in this environment that I know appreciates differences and makes an effort to hear all voices. When people come together from different backgrounds, roles and experiences, I believe it will create the strongest voice. Lisa Lin, advance practice nurse
