Here are some of the reasons why WalterFedy was selected as one of Canada's Greenest Employers (2025):
- Employees at WalterFedy organize a number of events focused on the environment, including TravelWise Bike Month in June, a sustainable commuting challenge, Earth Day cleanup events, and a community garden volunteering initiative in partnership with McQuesten Urban Farm in Hamilton
- WalterFedy committed in 2013 to reducing its carbon dioxide emissions by 40 per cent by 2020 (based on a 2010 baseline) -- after achieving that goal in 2016, the company set a new target of a 60 per cent reduction by 2030 and pledged to purchase carbon offsets for all remaining emissions (plus an additional 10 per cent to move beyond zero carbon)
- WaterFedy's Sustainable Advisory Committee (founded in 2009) is made up of members from across the organization who lead in-house programs and help ensure sustainability is incorporated into the building projects the company designs
