Recognized as one of Canada's Greenest Employers (2025):
By Richard Yerema and Chantel Watkins, and Sonja Verpoort, Mediacorp Canada Inc. staff editors (Apr 21, 2025)
Here are some of the reasons why Symcor Inc. was selected as one of Canada's Greenest Employers (2025):
- Symcor supports a variety of in-house environmental initiatives, including an extensive recycling program that captures non-conventional recyclables such as e-waste and cell phones, coffee pods, batteries, paper towels and pallets -- employees are also encouraged to collect the tabs from their aluminum beverage cans to donate to the Pop Tabs for Wheelchairs organization (funds generated are used to purchase wheelchairs and other necessary equipment for children in need)
- Symcor employees volunteer to support environmental initiatives in their communities, including tree planting at the Toronto Zoo and participating in Calgary's long-standing annual Pathway and River Cleanup
- Along with offering a variety of alternative work options to reduce commuting time, Symcor supports sustainable travel with a bicycle loan program managed by its head office, transit subsidies, EV parking for cars and bikes, and preferred parking for carpoolers
