Here are some of the reasons why Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre was selected as one of Canada's Greenest Employers (2022):

  • Sunnybrook Health Sciences campus building footprint includes an architecturally integrated solar photovoltaic array on an existing parking structure, a unique cool roofing system that reflects heat, and LED exterior lighting retrofits to help save energy
  • Sunnybrook Health Sciences encourages employees to consider cycling to work through the employee-led Bikes User Group Sunnybrook (BUGS), secure bike parking, and hosting several bike-share stations on the Bayview campus in partnership with the Toronto Parking Authority
  • Along with traditional consumer-facing recycling programs, Sunnybrook Health Sciences also operates waste sterilization systems to treat biomedical waste onsite as well as anesthetic gas capture technology
