Here are some of the reasons why Suncor Energy Inc. was selected as one of Canada's Best Diversity Employers (2022):
- Suncor hosted 10 inclusion listening labs in 2020, providing a psychologically safe space for small groups of employees to share their views with senior leaders on progress, gaps, opportunities, and suggested actions to continue building a more inclusive, respectful and diverse workplace
- Additionally, Suncor's CEO, along with the inclusion and diversity council, hosted a call on anti-racism with nearly 1,600 employees in attendance -- the call featured personal stories from three Black and Indigenous employees and provided others with the opportunity to share personal feelings and comments about social injustices
- Suncor manages an Indigenous student program to provide work experience for students -- hiring 17 students into permanent roles since the program's inception in 2015 -- the company also supports an Indigenous employee mentorship program, with participants meeting virtually for one-on-one conversations
