- Scotiabank maintains the SOAR development program to increase the pipeline of Indigenous students in banking -- aimed at Indigenous students completing post-secondary education, the 12- to 24-month program provides support through coaching, as well as opportunities to learn, practice and apply their skills
- Scotiabank offers its Elevate development program for women at the associate director or director level in its global banking and markets business in response to data showing a higher number of women leaving financial services at the mid-point of their careers -- the six-month program includes development sessions, mentorship and networking to increase exposure to senior leaders, with 95 per cent of the over 350 associate directors who participated remaining with the bank two years later
- Scotiabank provides five paid days of traditional Indigenous practice leave, supporting employees to participate in cultural practices and events -- the bank also recently introduced coverage for expenses related to Indigenous well-being, including Indigenous ceremonies, language learning, materials for cultural crafts, and traditional medicine
