Recognized as one of Canada's Greenest Employers (2025):
By Richard Yerema and Chantel Watkins, and Sonja Verpoort, Mediacorp Canada Inc. staff editors (Apr 21, 2025)
Here are some of the reasons why Keilhauer Ltd. was selected as one of Canada's Greenest Employers (2025):
- Keilhauer's Take-Back program allows customers to return select furniture items for disassembly and recycling, supported by online resources that guide proper disposal -- the company also introduced "Swurve," their first carbon-neutral chair, by tracking reduced emissions throughout production and offsetting the remainder with carbon credits
- Keilhauer recently launched a new website featuring sustainability scorecards for all its products, outlining environmental attributes, such as certifications, recycled content, end-of-life options, use of renewable energy in production and packaging, and applicability to LEED and WELL building standards
- Keilhauer offers a comprehensive waste program that goes beyond standard diversion practices, even encouraging employees to bring in items from home to prevent them from ending up in landfill -- the program covers a wide range of materials, including food waste, cardboard, mixed plastics, light bulbs, batteries, office supplies, wood and wood skid, metals, printer and toner cartridges, PPE, candy wrappers, e-waste, leather, and textiles
