By Richard Yerema and Kristina Leung, Mediacorp Canada Inc. staff editors (Feb 11, 2025)
Here are some of the reasons why BC Infrastructure Benefits Inc. / BCIB was selected as one of BC's Top Employers (2025):
- BCIB starts new employees with four weeks of paid vacation and provides additional paid time off during the winter and summer holidays -- and longer serving employees can apply for additional time off through an unpaid leave of absence option
- BCIB applies a thoughtful lens to its family-friendly policies, offering five paid days off each year for employees to care for family members after an illness in the household, up to 10 paid sick days annually for employees who are experiencing their own illness, and compassionate leave top-up when employees are called upon to care for loved ones (up to 100 per cent of salary for up to 35 weeks)
- BCIB supports its new families with maternity and parental leave top-up payments to 85 per cent of salary -- and offers parents the option to extend their leave into an unpaid leave of absence

Recognized as one of Canada's Best Diversity Employers (2025):
By Kristina Leung, Chantel Watkins, and Cypress Weston, Mediacorp Canada Inc. staff editors (Feb 24, 2025)
Here are some of the reasons why BC Infrastructure Benefits Inc. / BCIB was selected as one of Canada's Best Diversity Employers (2025):
- BCIB created the Respectful Onsite Initiative (ROI) to establish DEI standards of practice across their projects -- the initiative has central oversight from the CEO and president's office and promotes understanding and reconciliation wherever the organization operates, through policy and procedure, as well as on-site support for priority hire employees
- BCIB prioritizes hiring underrepresented people in the trades, including Indigenous peoples, people of colour, women, 2SLGBTQ+ people, people with disabilities, and locals -- 15 per cent of the workforce identifies as Indigenous (compared to the provincial industry average of 5 per cent) and 9 per cent of the workforce is women (above the provincial industry average of 5 per cent)
- BCIB's Workforce Trades Mentorship and Onsite Support Associate Manger provides direct transition-to-work supports for employees, such as finding child-care or coordinating reliable transit -- the role also involves conducting routine check-ins and enhancing the workplace experience by incorporating cultural teachings, traditions, and wisdom into daily work

BCIB has been amazing in terms of accommodations. They’ve worked with me to make sure my communication needs are met, from having visual signals for communication on the site to making sure I have interpreters when necessary. It’s a huge relief to work with a company that’s proactive in ensuring everyone can do their job without barriers. Brendan, ironworker on the Broadway subway project
