Here are some of the reasons why AMD / Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. was selected as one of Canada's Top Employers for Young People (2021):
- AMD provides opportunities for co-ops and interns to develop additional skills beyond their technical roles through a dedicated Intern Steering Committee, which plans various events throughout the year to help foster connection amongst students and new grads -- events include the Mentor Talks speaker series (senior employees share their career story and insights on emerging technologies) and "day of service" initiatives, with co-op students organizing volunteer events
- AMD's university relations team hosts an annual Career Day for interns to connect with recruiters and HR staff for resume and interview development, a career development speakers panel and a roundtable networking session to learn more about the transition from school to work -- recent grads and senior AMD engineers participate in the panel to discuss topics such as career progression, grad school options and career advice, rotating every 20 minutes afterwards at the tables to engage in deeper conversation
- AMD's internal Inventor's Corner site provides a one-stop shop of tools to learn about patent programs and the submission process (in 2019, the patent award program had 298 successful applications for a total cash disbursement of $286,000)

Staff at AMD participated in the Extra Life gaming marathon in 2019, in support of SickKids
